One True Loves by Elise Bryant

5-stars

One True Loves by Elise Bryant was fun, romantic, sweet, and witty. I loved the characters and the various places they traveled.

Lender is a recent graduate with a broken heart. She feels love has failed her and that there is no one in the world. Her family has a vacation planned for the family on a Mediterranean cruse. Before they disembark they give her an ultimatum to figure out her college plans and settle on one. They want her to focus but her heart is in her art. Her parents also remind her that Black kids don’t have the luxury of figuring things put as they go.

She meets Alex on the cruise and he’s a sweetheart. The to characters meet when their filies are forced to sit together for meals. He has a massive plan for his life and seems to have things all figured out. He’s irritating to Lenore for a long time but he is able to help Lenore figure things out.

Something I loved that seemed to jump out toward the end is how much being authentic meant to the characters. Lenore felt she had been putting on a show for a long time. I loved seeing her break through to be herself.

This story was written well and easy to follow. I found myself relating strongly to Lenore’s parents which left me feeling old but the book was wonderful. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to read more of this author’s work moving forward.
