Peter Servidio Author Spotlight

Tell our readers briefly about yourself.

Peter Servidio is a life-long learner with a passion for writing and is the author of the Earth Has Fallen series. After a childhood filled with reading books by Tolkien, Hubbard, Greenwood, Matheson, and Salvatore, Servidio has brought his imagination to life in his writings. His interests range from post-apocalyptic and dystopian worlds to dabbling in crime novels and the metaphysical.

Having earned his doctorate from St. Thomas University, Servidio works as a College and Correspondence Coordinator for the Maine Department of Corrections as well as teachers part-time at the University of Maine at Augusta. Readers have marked his writing as a “balance or realism and fantastical” that incorporates “a touch of King, a dash of Stein , and a hint of Tolkien.”

He lives in Southern Maine with his wife and three daughters. Just to make sure to keep busy, he also has two cats and a dog. When not working, writing, or spending time with his family, Servidio enjoys Dungeons & Dragons as well as MMORPGs.

What books do you have available? Can you give us a short description of them?

The Earth Has Fallen series

Book 1: Return from Darkness

Nuclear Armageddon left the planet in ashy ruins. When a man leaves the safety of the underground, will he survive the peril that awaits him above?

Seventeen-year-old Loreto Riker has never known life outside a bunker. After an atomic war thrusts the world into an eternal winter, the descendant of courageous survivors accepts an exploratory mission to search for others on the ravaged surface. But the treacherous task quickly turns deadly when he’s attacked by radioactively deformed flesh-eaters.

Desperately evading the mutant cannibals, Loreto pairs up with a sword-wielding woman on the run from the foul creatures. But when he makes a shocking discovery, he fears a much greater threat looms amongst the corrupted remnants of the apocalypse…

Can Loreto defend the last shred of humanity from a dark new enemy?

Return from Darkness is the page-turning first book in the Earth HasFallen post-apocalyptic science fiction series. If you like fearless heroes, detailed landscapes, and hauntingly speculative stories, then you’ll love Peter Servidio’s thrilling tale.

Book 2: Conflict Rising

Not only have other survivors been discovered by Loreto, but these survivors have also somehow created a device that penetrates the fallout allowing surface life to exist once again. The only problem is that the residents of Elysium Fields do not want to share their discovery for fear of their own destruction.

Furthermore, Pasquale is working to recreate the device known as Prototype 863. As the citizens of Toleran celebrate the new hope they have found, they are unaware of the danger approaching from the north. A danger that is two-fold. Ash Walkers being the 1st wave and Michael’s army close behind.

Trying to live in the devastation of the nuclear fallout was not hard enough, now the citizens must also be prepared for the conflict rising.

Book 3: Return to the Surface

In the third installment of the “Earth has Fallen” series, Toleran has survived the attack coordinated by Michael and the Elysium Fields’ citizen-soldiers; but not without heavy casualties. While some have perished, others will rise to power and lead. Even in the aftermath of great destruction, humanity must continue. With Prototype 863 nearly completed, there is no better time to return to the surface.

Book 4: New Frontier

Following the battle with Michael and Elysium Fields, a tentative peace has been reached between Toleran, Mountainside, and Elysium. The three communities have decided to work together to bring humanity back from the darkness. While the communities do this, Loreto and Pasquale decide to travel East after hearing rumors that a new America is being formed.

The best-laid plans are always ready to change like the wind, and the two men find themselves victims of a plane crash, which leaves them stranded near a new community. Something though is very different about these communities in the Eastern part of the continent - the fallout is less, the Ash Walkers are scarce, and no one seems to tell the same story.

Will Loreto be able to navigate this new frontier and return home to tell about it?

Prequel: Loreto - A Short Story

To be born underground, in the dark, never to see the surface.

That seemed to be Loreto’s fate. Born nearly half a century after the world had been destroyed by total, global, nuclear war one young man must find his destiny. He must learn what it means to be himself.

Destined to become a Topsider, will he walk upon the surface? Will he be one of the brave few who works to usher humanity back to Earth’s population?
