Immortal by Matthew J Stenning
4/5 Stars
Immortal by Matthew J Stenning was an adventurous read. The story is told from multiple points of view. I loved the detail this author put into creating the world in which the characters lived. Each person was indentured to live as a controlled being by a user in a game like world. I found it fascinating how they awoke from their service and escaped. The Dynast controlled them all, but it started changing. The heroes of the story were tasked with finding a way to keep their freedom in their new home and stop the Dynast.
The flow of the story was easy to follow as it transitioned between characters. It was organized and formatted well. I enjoyed how each part was broke into sections and then the internal dialogue of the antagonist was easy to sperate from the rest of the story. The antagonist was genius. The author provides a great origin of his source for evil and also shared his personality as being more on the evil side. Seeing how he was corrupted more by the taint was interesting.
I did find that the story was a little over wordy at times, but it added to the magic of the world. It made it easy to visualize and immerse into the story entirely. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a gamer or enjoys high fantasy. I enjoyed this book and give it 4 of 5 stars.
